Il Parco Nazionale della Sila è oramai pronto al rilancio della sua candidatura a Sito Patrimonio dell’Umanità Unesco. Per l’occasione è stato organizzato per mercoledì 29 novembre alle ore 15 un convegno, aperto al pubblico, presso la Sala Stampa dell’Unical.
La candidatura costituisce un passo importante. Vedersi riconosciuto lo status di Sito Patrimonio dell’Umanità rappresenterebbe non solo una medaglia, un riconoscimento del tanto lavoro svolto, ma soprattutto un volano per lo sviluppo turistico dei nostri territori e un ulteriore strumento a garanzia della loro conservazione.
Essendo abituati a vivere fianco a fianco con una biodiversità così ricca, circondati da un patrimonio culturale inestimabile, testimoni quotidianamente di tradizioni ultra millenarie, molte volte non riusciamo a renderci conto, da calabresi, della nostra fortuna.
Ma basta vedere cosa succede in tanti altri luoghi in Italia, in Europa o nel mondo per realizzare che queste cose che noi, per familiarità, tendiamo spesso a dare per scontate non lo sono affatto. Preservarle anche contro gli interessi più miopi ed immediati dell’economia distruttiva o contro la semplice inciviltà richiede un lavoro costante.
È in questo che risiede l’importanza fondamentale ed insostituibile di un Parco ed è per questo che un riconoscimento come quello Unesco costituirebbe un valore aggiunto imprescindibile.
Consapevoli di tutto ciò, alla conferenza prenderanno parte esponenti del mondo della politica come, tra gli altri ospiti illustri, il presidente della Regione Calabria, Mario Oliverio, e Domenico Bevacqua, dell’accademia come il Magnifico Rettore dell’Unical Gino Mirocle Crisci e il professor Pietro Brandmayr, esperti del processo di candidatura Unesco come Patrizia Nardi e di forestazione come Rossella Guadagno.
Sila National Park is now ready to relaunch its candidacy as UNESCO “World Heritage Site”. In this occasion, a public conference will be held at UNICAL Press Room next Wednesday 29 November at 3 pm.
The candidacy is an important step. Achieving the status of “World Heritage Site” would represent not just a ‘medal’, an acknowledgment of the work done, but above all a flywheel for the tourist development of our territories and an additional tool to guarantee their preservation.
Being accustomed to living side by side with such a rich biodiversity, surrounded by an invaluable cultural heritage, witnessing daily thousand year old traditions, we often fail to realize, as people from Calabria, how lucky we actually are.
But you just have to see what happens in many other places in Italy, Europe or the rest of world in order to realize that these things that we, for reasons of familiarity, often tend to take for granted are not granted at all. Preserving them even against the most myopic and immediate interests of the ‘destructive’ economy or against simple incivility requires constant work.
It is in this that lies the fundamental and irreplaceable importance of a Park and that is why recognition such as a UNESCO Site would be an indispensable added value.
Conscious of all this, at the conference will take part on behalf of the political world and among other distinguished guests, the President of the Calabria Region Hon. Mario Oliverio and the Hon. Domenico Bevacqua; on behalf of the academy world the Rector Magnificus of UNICAL Gino Mirocle Crisci and professor Pietro Brandmayr; experts in the UNESCO application process such as Patrizia Nardi and in forestry like Rossella Guadagno.
